Homemade Spaghetti-O’s
Ingredients:
- 1 cup ditalini pasta or anellini pasta (small ring-shaped pasta)
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup tomato paste
- 1 cup chicken broth or vegetable broth
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: 1/4 teaspoon paprika or 1/4 teaspoon dried basil for extra flavor
Instructions:
- Cook the Pasta:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add the ditalini or anellini pasta to the boiling water.
- Cook according to the package instructions until the pasta is al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- Once cooked, drain the pasta and set it aside.
- Prepare the Tomato Sauce:
- In a large saucepan, combine the tomato sauce, tomato paste, and chicken or vegetable broth.
- Stir the mixture over medium heat until the tomato paste is fully incorporated.
- Add the sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, and any optional seasonings (such as paprika or basil) to the sauce.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
- Add the Milk and Cheese:
- Reduce the heat to low and slowly stir in the milk until well combined.
- Add the shredded cheddar cheese to the sauce, stirring constantly until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Add the butter to the sauce and stir until melted and incorporated.
- Combine Pasta and Sauce:
- Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and stir gently until the pasta is evenly coated with the creamy tomato sauce.
- Continue to cook on low heat for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Serve:
- Serve the Homemade Spaghetti-O’s hot, garnished with a little extra shredded cheese or fresh basil if desired.
